History of the Dodi Development Initiative

 

  • August 2009 - Sam Leach studies at Legon University in Accra, Ghana
    He meets Wisdom Ekissi, an inspirational man in Amedzofe. First discussions and visits to Dodi Island. Project proposals written
  • September 2010 - Sam gets his mum, Suzanne Lambert, to help with The Sean Devereux Children’s Fund
  • November 2010 - Wisdom and the AUYA organize a project to promote Health education and the prevention of infections and diseases
    Mosquito nets provided along with the Guinea worm project and advice about sanitation and clean water. Life jackets provided and advice about education and safety
  • February 2011 to November 2011 - School is constructed with the help of the islanders and a group from Amedzofe led by Wisdom
  • January 2012 - Monitoring visit and research undertaken
  • March 2012 - School is painted/plastered and equipment and resources obtained
  • February 2013 - Monitoring visit by Trustees
  • March 2013 - Latrines, urinals and school teacher accommodation constructed
  • September 2013 - New DODI Fund set up and registered as a charity
  • February 2014 building work completed
  • March 2014 teachers move into accomodation
  • October 2014 monitoring visit by Trustee
