OUR AIMS

OUR GOALS

1. Educational Goals

  • To build and maintain a primary school that will qualify to be adopted by the Ghanaian Education Service by the end of 2017. Once the GES adopt the school it will be self-sustaining
  • To help improve standards of education and support the teachers

2. Health care Goals

  • To link students and the community to the local Health clinic at Dodi town so that they can provide education in health care and disease prevention in order to reduce the occurrence of malaria and waterborne diseases.
  • To facilitate the provision of regular health visits, immunization and medicine for the adults and children including help for pregnant women and detection and prevention of common and more serious conditions by the clinic.

3. Self-sustainability

  • The community is largely dependent on fishing, the goal is to work with the community to develop agriculture and other local enterprise initiative to help the economy of the community

WHAT WE HAVE ACHIEVED

Since 2010, with the help form our Partners, we have raised sufficient funds to go a long way towards achieving our goals. 100% of the money raised has been used by the local community for the local community. Since the project started, the funds have been put towards the following achievements:

• The school has been built and the GES has started the adoption process - we are on target.
• Monitoring visits by both the Asuopgtaman District Assembly and the District Director of Education, ensures links with local organisations.
• We have good, regular attendance of children of primary school age and three full time teachers.
• STudents follow the GES curriculum and have access to a broad range of subjects.
• Two clean drinking water boreholes were drilled in 2016.
• A Dodi community project 'Bags for Life' has been implemented.
• We have raised awareness of the causes of diseases. The community use mosquito nets and water purifying tablets for water not sourced from the boreholes. There are regular visits by healthcare workers and diseases are in decline.
